An idea is not worth much. Unless someone executes on it. If it  becomes clear there is a market, then the idea might be worth something. But only if it is protected.

So is there a market for helping people take candid photos with an iPhone ? Is there a market for helping people take ground level shots with an iPhone ? Is there a market for doing both… That is probably at least a $10 question !

My best guess is yes, so the last six months I’ve been gambling at the entrepreneurs’ table. So far I’m out of pocket with a trademark for HiLO Lens® and a patent pending for an iPhone camera accessory.

I’m living in France right now, but decided to apply for both the trademark and patent in New Zealand. There are some good reasons – if you want to protect some Intellectual Property (IP). Here are 12 good reasons to patent in New Zealand. A trademark costs about 200€ in France and about $100 in New Zealand (about 57€, but soon to be 80€ if Europe doesn’t sort out our debt crisis) .

So if the idea turns out to be a dud, I’ll be out of pocket but may still be wearing pants !
